Qlik Geocoding Step-by-step guide
1. Download the template app
Qlik GeoAnalytics Base or Qlik GeoAnalytics Enterprise Server and Qlik Geocoding is required in order to run.
Download template app. (Qlik Sense).
Download template app. (QlikView, please make sure you insert your QGA connections string).
Note! Use connector type "Cloud".
Note! Use your normal LEF key, the Geocoding attribute will be added to your QGA key.
2. Load the addresses.
Replace the example addresses in the app in section “Load Addresses” in the load script.
Start small, load only 20 addresses, Make sure to use the same names for fields, remap if necessary.
Here’s an example (test addresses_400.xlsx):
addresses: First 10 LOAD id, street, city, state, zip, country FROM [lib://ctemp/test_addresses.xlsx] (ooxml, embedded labels, table is addresses);
3. Mileage may vary.
Modify the paths to c:\temp and QGA if necessary.
4. Run the load script.
The result will be saved to a file “AddressPointLookupResult.qvd” in the temp folder.
The QVD filed can included in other apps, the “id” field is the key
Qlik Geocoding is based on two Qlik GeoAnalytics operations, the AddresPointLookup and PointToAddressLookup. The connector of course be used directly but it’s a strong recommendation to use the template app to get the right workflow and not wasting lookups. The template is written for Qlik Sense but can also be used for QlikView, the load script is identical.
